EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Shana Pearson
CLIENT ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES (CAS) SUPERVISOR
Meet Shana – a passionate veteran of FastTrack’s Client Administrative Services Team for almost 5 years and counting. She LOVES diving into new languages, scaling mountains of rock (!!!), and losing herself in bookstores on the weekends.
What is your current position with FastTrack? How long have you been in it?
I am the Client Administrative Services (CAS) Supervisor. I’ve been in the position for about six months now.
What is your typical workweek like?
My typical work day starts with logging in and overseeing the distribution of work to our Admins. Throughout the day, I will communicate with clients, answer questions from Admins, or escalate technical service issues to our internal help desk as needed. The rest of my day consists of processing claims.
Do you work with any specific customers?
I work primarily with Reliance, Modern Woodman, and The Standard. I will also dabble in Primerica from time to time if work volumes are high and I have capacity.
What has your career path been like at FastTrack?
I started as an Administrative Services Specialist in August of 2016, became the Senior Administrative Services Specialist in September of 2019, and finally started as the Client Administrative Services Supervisor in December of 2020.
How has FastTrack helped your personal and professional development?
Working with FastTrack has helped me develop my critical thinking and problem solving skills, become more assertive, and have confidence in my knowledge. It’s most certainly helped me in my personal life with taking the lead and becoming a more well-rounded person.
What is something you love about working at FastTrack?
I love the collaborative nature of the CAS Team. If there are any gaps in knowledge, someone will know the answer and everyone is always willing to share their experience.
Do you have any accomplishments within the organization you’re particularly proud of?
I mastered our online mailing service and the physical envelope inserter machine. As someone who was not the most computer savvy, I am very proud of those two achievements.
What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, or podcast?
It’s hard to pick an overall favorite, but I will say that I have a weakness for Pirates of The Caribbean. Something about the madness and comedy of the movie just gets me every time.
Do you have any pets?
I don’t have any pets of my own, but I like to appreciate other animals from afar.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I love to learn languages. Nelson Mandela once said, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” It’s so satisfying to understand and be able to express myself in another language. Plus it opens up so many paths of communication! I’m currently studying Mandarin Chinese, German, and Greek.
What type of activities are you mostly likely to be up to on the weekends?
On the weekends, you’ll find me scaling mountains and overlooking valleys, at a bookstore losing myself in the shelves, or doing some indoor rock-climbing.
What is your favorite vacation destination? What’s one you haven’t visited yet but would like to in the future?
My favorite place I’ve been is is Jamaica, but in the future I would love to go to Greece.
What person would you most like to switch places with for a day?
No one. I love where I am in life and the experiences that make me who I am.
What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Buy a house, fill it with books and plants, and hope that I could keep the latter alive.
What is your favorite 21st century innovation?
AirPods. The amount of times my corded headphones used to rip out of my phone from moving the wrong way was astounding.
What is something you loved doing as a kid? Do you still do it now?
Rollerblading! And yes, I still do it.
Do you have any unique or hidden talents?
I’m good at picking up languages and I make a mean cup of tea.
Who is one of your personal heroes?
My mom. She raised me and my sibling as a single mother and she’s always gone for what she wants in life.
Have you ever had an encounter with anyone famous?
Not yet, but here’s hoping!
What is your motto for life?
Like Dory says in Finding Nemo: “Just keep swimming!”
If there was a movie about your life made, who would you want the narrator to be?
Morgan Freeman. My life would sound like an action-packed apocalypse move!
Do you have any nicknames?
Shay and—to my family—Shanabana.
Do you have any other interesting traits that you want to share?
I am very tenacious. If I don’t know an answer, I won’t stop until I have figured it out or can direct you to someone who does know.
