EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Renee Duchon
IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT MANAGER
Meet Renee – a vital Development Team Member here at FastTrack. Hired in 2017, Renee works directly with our key client-partners, including The Standard, on current and future-state development related needs. She thoroughly enjoys spending time with Cooper, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and loves dipping her toes in the sand at the nearest beach.
What is your current position with FastTrack? How long have you been in it?
My current role is Implementation Project Manager. I’ve been in this role since March of 2017.
What is your typical workweek like?
My typical day starts at 5am, I get up, walk my dogs, and head to the gym. After my workout, I head home and get ready for the workday.
My mornings consist of current development progress (scrum) meetings and the typical email catch up/housekeeping tasks. Once our scrum meetings are complete, I will work on planning future development prioritization, code release planning, incident management, and test strategy. The remainder of my day centers around client meetings and project manager tasks to help keep all of our clients on track with delivery.
Do you work with any specific customers?
Currently, my work has been focused with The Standard. However, I work with all our new clients as well.
How has FastTrack helped your personal and professional development?
Working at FastTrack has helped me continued to fine tune my project management skills. I have kept up-to-date with all my continuing education towards my Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and I have gained a ton of experience in the Agile software development methodology.
What is something you love about working at FastTrack?
I love the people and the inclusive environment at FastTrack.
Do you have any accomplishments within the organization you’re particularly proud of?
Since I started with FastTrack almost 4 years ago, it has been incredible to watch my team grow from myself as the Implementation Project Manager to a team of Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Testers, and several more Developers. I am particularly proud of all the successful software implementations and satisfied clients.
What is your favorite book, TV show, movie, or podcast?
One of my favorite series has been Schitt’s Creek. This show managed to make me laugh with every episode but also tackled some important issues.
I am also a true crime junkie and listen to and enjoy several Podcasts while I am doing my daily run. I enjoy listening while I run so my mind is not actually on the run which makes it go much faster.
Do you have any pets?
I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel whose name is Cooper. He is like my child and an integral part of my Project Management Office.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I am a runner and I dabble in bike riding. I also do agility work with Cooper.
What is your favorite vacation destination? What’s one you haven’t visited yet but would like to in the future?
I am at peace on pretty much any beach with my feet in the sand and the sun shining. My next planned vacation is to Cape Cod and I am very much looking forward to it!
What is your favorite 21st century innovation?
I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with social media. I think it has been one of the most impactful innovations, but it is also one of the most dangerous innovations. I love social media for the fact that I can easily keep up with family and friends and share things happening in our lives. I hate social media for the uninformed and inaccurate information provided which many choose to believe. But I will keep using it and take the opportunity to connect with many friends all over the world and keep up with my family’s activities.
Who is one of your personal heroes?
RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsberg) is one of the most influential heroes in my life. Her leadership and guidance with all her years of service in the Supreme Court has been inspirational for women everywhere. She ensured woman’s right are protected and made sure women are treated with equality in everything we do!
