Liam O’Brien
Information Technology Specialist
Meet Liam – an up-and-coming Information Technology (IT) star and great FastTrack Team Member! Liam’s core responsibility is monitoring FastTrack’s Help Desk, promptly assisting employees with their IT related needs. An avid car enthusiast who likes to take weekend drives, Liam hopes to get his hands on a Porsche 911 Turbo one day (we can’t blame him on that one 🤩).
What is your current position with FastTrack?
I’m our Information Technology Specialist, which I have been for 9 months.
What is your typical workweek like?
Monitoring the internal Help Desk to assist employees with all their IT related issues ✅. I also work on the ongoing upkeep of the IT infrastructure. This can include anything rom server management to upgrading and maintaining security processes.
Do you work with any specific carrier-customers?
While I don’t work with anyone outside the organization, every one of my coworkers has been one of my customers at some point or another.
Tell us about your career path with FastTrack. Have you held any other positions?
This is my first and only position here at FastTrack. However, I’m looking forward to growing along with the company in the future. 👌
How has FastTrack helped your personal and professional development?
Working so closely with our internal customers has helped a lot to improve my people skills and encountering their new requests daily has honed my problem-solving skills quite a bit. It’s also given me tremendous insight into the inner workings of a business infrastructure.
On a personal level, I feel like I’ve really gotten a handle on all the best lunch places around the office. 😂
What is something you love about working for FastTrack?
I love the positive and upbeat company culture here at FastTrack. Everyone that I have met has been extremely friendly and supportive. It is really a unique company to work for.
Do you have any accomplishments within the organization you’re particularly proud of?
I spearheaded the reorganization and secure setup for our remote Claims Administrative Specialists. 💯
What is your favorite book, movie, or show?
The Legend of Zelda is my favorite video game series 🎮. The sense of open-world adventure mixed with clever puzzle solving has always been very appealing to me.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
Collecting retro gaming systems/games is one of my bigger hobbies. I like to preserve and enjoy gaming from a bygone era.
What type of activities are you most likely to be up to on the weekends?
Relaxing with my friends or fixing my aging Acura RSX Type-S 🚗. I refuse to let it die!
What is your favorite vacation destination?
My favorite vacation destination is really just a simple weekend at the beach. One day I would really like to take a trip to Italy to see some historic places and artifacts.
What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
Probably something unwise like buy a Porsche 911 Turbo.
What is your favorite 21st century innovation?
I think my default needs to be smartphones 📱. Definitely a tool I use more than most 21st century innovations.
What’s something you loved doing as a kid? Do you still do it now?
As a kid I liked being taken for rides in the car. As an adult, I enjoy being behind the wheel for weekend drives.
What is your motto for life?
“It is what it is.”
What are your top three most overused words/phrases?
“6 of one, half dozen of the other”, “Are you sure?”, and “Technically…”
What’s a surprising fact about yourself?
I am actually not terrible at drawing ✍️. I don’t practice enough though.
If there was a movie about your life made, who would you want the narrator to be?
I think Liam Neeson is the obvious choice.
