What is your current position with FastTrack?
My current position is a QA Analyst, I’ve held the role for 4 years.
What is your typical workday like?
I review tickets in the current/upcoming sprints, create a test plan, and test tickets. The latter is usually quite collaborative with the dev team as we work through the changes made to verify its functional and non-disruptive to other functions within our caseworker sites.
Tell us about your career path within FastTrack. Have you held any other position(s)?
I was brought in alongside my colleague, Limon, to help start the QA department. At first, it was a lot of setting up communication between departments and learning the ins and outs of our products. It has since settled more into a traditional QA role. We’ve recently been getting an automation framework set up for regression testing so we can focus on our newer sites and services.
How has FastTrack helped your personal and professional development?
I’ve learned a lot about what goes into getting a department up and running from the ground up. I really learned how to filter information into what needs to be done immediately, and how to communicate that with my coworkers.
What is something you love about working for FastTrack?
I love that whenever I reach out to a coworker for assistance / more information, it feels like I’m speaking to a real person. Even though we’re both focused on the task at hand, there is a friendly atmosphere.
Do you have any accomplishments within the organization you’re particularly proud of?
Really just being acknowledged in terms of providing value. Its often times hard to see exactly where QA work shows through, but having upper management acknowledge our work is very rewarding.
Do you have any pets?
We have a 3-year-old dog named Phoebe. We’re not quite sure what breed she is, but she’s an absolute mush! 🐶
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
I enjoy playing games of all varieties – board, video, card.
My favorite is probably the card game Magic the Gathering. The amount of thought and problem solving a typical game offers is incredibly rewarding. Also, the social aspect of going to a game shop to play has allowed me to meet a lot of now longtime friends.
Recently, I’ve gotten really into golfing. It’s super challenging, but real fun and a nice chance to see some of the beautiful courses around the state!
What type of activities are you most likely to be up to on the weekends?
Golfing with my family and visiting friends for game nights.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Of all the places I’ve been, Tokyo is easily my favorite place. The culture is amazing, the people are kind, and the city is the cleanest large city I’ve seen. I look forward to visiting Japan again; I didn’t even come close to doing everything I wanted to!
What person would you most like to switch places with for a day?
Now that I started golfing, I’d like to swap with a PGA pro to see just how much of their day is spent practicing and prepping. I think often times we forget that their entire life revolves around the sport.
What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
I’d pay off any loans / mortgages for my immediate family and begin traveling the world.
What is your favorite 21st century innovation?
Online voice chat, I have a lot of friends across the country that I play games with and having an easy way to talk with them at any point in time is super nice.
What’s something you loved doing as a kid? Do you still do it now?
I’ve always loved the problem-solving nature of games, so in that sense I’ve never stopped doing the things I loved as a kid.
Do you have any unique or hidden talents?
I played water polo in college, so I’m quite good at swimming / treading water!
Who is one of your personal heroes?
Little cliché, but my mom. The things she’s managed to do for me and my brothers growing up while furthering her own career has been nothing short of a miracle. ❤️
What is your motto for life?
Try everything twice. 🙌
What’s a surprising fact about yourself?
I took 3 semesters of Japanese in college and (at some point) was able to speak / read at probably an early elementary school level.
