What is your current position with FastTrack?
Senior Vice President, Analytics and Business Solutions
What is your typical workweek like?
The majority of my day/week revolves around front-end sales opportunities with prospects/clients or developing analytical reporting to be presented during Key Performance Indicator (KPI) meetings with our clients.
Do you work with any specific customers?
I am engaged with all our clients! With support from my team, of course. 🤝
Tell us about your career path at FastTrack. Have you held any other position(s) within the company?
After a successful career in the insurance industry, I joined FastTrack in late 2009 when we were beginning to build our original offerings and develop a plan to educate the disability vertical on our products. Although I’ve held many hats since 2009, I have always been in front-end sales roles along with building out our analytical reporting department.
How has FastTrack helped your personal and professional development?
FastTrack, being a small family-like company, has allowed me the opportunity to build, shape, and report on all our technology solutions in a very collaborated manner. I can easily work within our management structure with easy access to all levels of the company to ensure we deliver accurate and meaningful value for our clients.
What is something you love about working at FastTrack?
My favorite part of being a member of the FastTrack team is the family-like atmosphere. Everyone treats everyone else equally and appreciates all contributions to the teams success. Titles mean nothing; everyone is a key member and shares in our success as a company.
Do you have any accomplishments within the organization you’re particularly proud of?
I think I am particularly proud of seeing the successful growth of our company from the five of us in late 2009 to the 70+ wonderful teammates we have grown to – this means we are doing something right here at FastTrack! 🚀
What is your favorite media or series?
I love to read, with my favorite authors being Nelson DeMille and Tom Clancy. I am also a history buff and therefore love anything (series or movies) on history.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests?
My main outside hobbies are golfing and pickle ball. I love playing each because I love to compete (although, the older I get, the main goal is just to be outside and active with friends and family). I also love to read, especially during the long and cold Maine winters!
What type of activities are you most likely to be up to on the weekends?
During the good weather months I spend a lot of time golfing ⛳️, cooking out 🍔, sitting by the fire pit 🔥, and enjoying time with friends and family. During the winter months, I will spend time snowshoeing, shoveling, and dreaming of the good weather months to come back!
What is your favorite vacation destination? What’s one you haven’t visited yet but would like to in the future?
From a family perspective, our most frequent vacation destination over the years has been Walt Disney World. As the kids have grown up, my wife and I are more focused on seeing other areas. We are planning our first trip to a Sandals location and I have always wanted to go to Scotland/Ireland to play golf and see the old castles!
What person would you most like to switch places with for a day?
Tiger Woods – I would just love to hit a golf ball like he does just once in my life! 😍
What’s the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?
After being picked up off the floor 😝, I would pay off my house, the kids’ student loans, and throw one heck of a party for all my current friends and family!
What’s your favorite 21st century innovation?
Navigational systems in cars. I remember the days when printed off directions from MapQuest seemed so cool and now it is so easy just to plug in your phone and set the directions!
What’s something you loved doing as a kid? Do you still do it now?
My favorite activities when I was a kid was sports – any and all sport and all day long. Although now I need to be a tad more selective in my athletic activity, I still love going out and playing golf, pickle ball, bowling, skiing, and snowshoeing (yes snowshoeing is competitive when you are racing around the course against others!) as much as possible.
Who is one of your personal heroes?
General Lewis Burwell “Chesty” Puller, USMC. Chesty was the greatest Marine in history and he is my hero—not because he was a great combat fighter—but because he led from the front and didn’t ask his soldiers to do something he wouldn’t do himself. He is a legend ✨ in the Marine Corps because the soldiers he lead loved him and his leadership.
What is your motto for life?
My favorite motto I live by is “Don’t be afraid to fail”. During my coaching years, I always told my players that they will never reach their top potential if they were too afraid to make a mistake or fail. That mantra has helped my in all aspects of life.
What’s a surprising fact about yourself?
Even though I have a position that requires me to speak with clients/prospects almost on a daily basis, I still get nervous before presenting. It is part of being shy and having a strong Maine accent!
Do you have any nicknames?
Most of the people here in Southern Maine call me ‘Rudy’ after my father. At work, my boss and CEO calls me RW, which stands for Road Warrior for all the travel we were doing prior to the Covid pandemic.
